Hashtag Watch – What’s For #teacher5adayBreakfast?

If your daily pre-work eating routine leaves something to be desired – or if you don't have one at all – then this is one Twitter conversation you'll want to pay attention to...

  • Hashtag Watch – What’s For #teacher5adayBreakfast?

Over the last couple of weeks, a growing number of teachers and educators have been tweeting pictures of their breakfasts on Twitter.

Originally suggested by Vicki Vincent in order to highlight the importance for teachers to eat well and help share tips and recipes, the #teacher5adayBreakfast quickly caught on, presenting those who search for it with a rich gallery of breakfasts that are by turns posh, healthy, fatty, comforting, funny and intriguing.

What with it being the holidays, plenty many seem to have been using their free mornings to come up with some impressively elaborate creations that might be a little tricky to pull off on a term-time Tuesday morning – plus no shortage of holiday breakfasts in sunny locales

That said, there are also plenty of practical suggestions and inspiring ideas to be found. Here are some of the contributions that caught our attention…

Classy classic

Up first is this wholesome-looking combination dished up by serial #teacher5adayBreakfast-er, @aly_sea…

Cornish delight

Don’t know about you, but I were seated in front of this Cornish breakfast tableaux, I’d be thinking that all is right with the world…

Maximum performance

If you’d have thought that a PE teacher and Aquathlete with experience of competing on the world stage would be in the habit of rustling up something rather more ambitious and nutritious than a slice of toast in the mornings, you’d have guessed correctly…

Greased lightning

Though, to be fair, what are summer Sunday mornings for, if not indulging in the rush of calories and hearty satisfaction that comes from tucking into a classic fry-up?

A breakfast of two halves

This appetising-looking duo would seem to have all bases covered…

Perfectly formed

Now that’s how you do breakfast in style…

Be good to yourself

Quick to do, and healthy too…

Everything in its right place

Do we detect a little wishful thinking with this one? Great attention to detail, in any case…

Call of the wild

Naturally, it was just a matter of time before the edible animals started to appear…

Highly evolved

...though as animalikes go, this suggestion’s quite the showstopper…

Is it a…?

And finally, an honorable mention has to go to @MattGovernorhere, creator of these and numerous other playful creations…

Oh, and in case you’re curious, this was your writer’s tasty, if rather prosaic pick-me-up this morning –  a bagel with some rather nice Italian honey…
