What will students see and do?
Pentre Centre is part of the North Wales Outdoor Education Service (NWOES). The centre supports the nearby areas of Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Wrexham, Gwynedd and Anglesey.
When visiting Pentre, students will experience learning outside while participating in school team-building exercises. The centre focuses on creating exciting school residential trips. The objective of these trips is to:
– build confidence by helping students overcome challenges
– teach independence by encouraging students to look after themselves
– develop teamwork by helping one another
– promote healthy eating and exercise
– show students how to be the best that they can be
– learn about a new area and use Welsh in a new environment
– look after the environment and learn how to be eco-friendly
Trips include memorable outdoor activities in the beautiful countryside of Snowdonia surrounding the Brenig and Alwen reservoirs. These activities include:
– canoeing and kayaking
– environmental discovery
– gorge scrambling
– hill/mountain walking
– mine and cave exploration
– mountain biking
– problem-solving and team building
– ropes courses
All of these activities are taught by qualified and experienced instructors who are used to working with a wide range of ages and abilities. The programme will be selected in advance of your visit, and Pentre will provide all specialist equipment.
After a long day of learning outside, students can return to Pentre for a warm home-cooked meal. The centre offers both multi-day residential courses or day courses. Adventure activities in the Pentre area promote students’ appetite for learning. Students will also feel more confident and more motivated after participating in Pentre’s activities. The hands-on experiences in the wild Snowdonia area will be unforgettable.
