Review

Perfectly timed for the centenary anniversary of the end of WWI in November 2018, this is a gripping and moving story about courage, reputation, and the way that history can all too easily be rewritten, told in a way that is especially likely to appeal to emergent, reluctant and dyslexic readers.

The publisher specialises in producing brilliant writing with the widest possible appeal, aimed at unlocking a love of reading in those who might not find it easy to engage with more challenging texts; so, as well as being edited to a reading age of 8+, the book features a dyslexic-friendly layout, typeface and paper stock.

It’s stylishly packaged, too, with only a removable ‘super readable’ sticker to identify it as an especially accessible offering; and the convincing characters, compelling plot and historical setting will be enjoyed by students of all levels of reading ability.
