Thanks to technology, learning about life from conception to birth has never been more exciting…

Your appearance is unique due to the combination of genes you have inherited from your parents; the result of sexual reproduction.

A blurry ultrasound photograph taken at hospital was probably the first image of you.

Modern technology now provides a window into the womb more captivating than ever before; real-time video images enable us to share the experiences of an unborn baby and the incredible detail has allowed surgeons to diagnose and even operate before birth.

As you teach, be mindful that while the topic of pregnancy and birth may be exciting and interesting, some students may feel embarrassed, uncomfortable or worried. Create a safe space where these worries can be shared and discussed.

This download includes the full lesson plan and accompanying resources.

Why teach this?

New technology allows us a window into life before birth that enables teaching this fascinating topic in more detail than ever before. Captivate your pupils and enjoy the privilege of sharing the very beginning of the human experience with them.
