Set up an exciting imaginary emergency to help children showcase their computing talents, says Adam Parkhouse…

Now we’ve been working with the new computing curriculum for a while, you will probably find that the children in your class are able to work in a variety of coding languages and can solve a range of problems using different software.

This activity allows you to showcase and revise your pupils’ talents and is based around an imaginary scenario involving the classroom door being locked by a mysterious hacker.

This should keep children engaged as they battle to escape the classroom at breaktime by solving different tasks.

What they’ll learn

• Use the Print Screen function
• Know what hackers do
• Revise skills such as coding and debugging programs in more than one language
