The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is bringing new cross-curricular teaching resources to your classroom – these are free to download and aim to introduce children to the wonder and excitement of STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) through key subject areas and curriculum topics.

Egyptian-themed resources

Explore our range of free, cross-curricular resources covering design & technology, maths, history, engineering and art.

These free primary resources, will get your students making pieces of jewellery inspired by the ancient Egyptians, learning about scale and volume using pyramids made from paper, making papyrus from paper, and even learning how to write their name and numbers in hieroglyphics!

These practical activities help students explore a range of topics using hands-on approaches for KS1 and KS2 and are mapped to the curricula with lesson plans and presentations alongside the printables, so you’ll have everything you need to hand.

The history of the Vikings

A fun, free themed multi-lesson project for your class.

This multi-lesson integrated classroom project teaching resource, based around the theme of the Vikings, aims to show how design and technology and engineering can be built into a wider theme-based set of primary lesson activities covering a range of curriculum areas.

Teachers can select the activities they feel best fit with their lesson planning and carry them out as stand-alone activities, or learners can complete all activities within this teaching resource as part of an integrated scheme of work.

In this project, learners will research the Viking longboat, write and perform a script about how the Vikings lived, design a Viking pin badge, and make a Viking purse.

Join in and inspire design and technology skills with your 7–11-year-olds.

Maths resources

The Pi’s the limit with these free KS1 and KS2 maths resources!

Maths plays a key part in all of our lives, and we have grouped some of our most popular maths resources here for you. Don’t forget that our resources are free and easy to use and customise within your lesson plans.

A lot of our resources are cross-curricular too so will include an element of maths within them to help your students understand how maths underpins so many of our actions every day.

Grab a ‘pizza’ the action to understand fractions through a pizza-cutter approach, or solve multiplication problems with a fun bingo activity. Explore the free maths resources now!

If your school and class try any of our activities, we’d love to see your final creations or ideas, so please share your pictures with our social media channels tagging @IETeducation. We can’t wait to see them!
