‘Have you ever watched an episode of Grand Designs and been left itching to create your own architectural masterpiece – only without having to put your life savings, and possibly your sanity, on the line? Well, using a free piece of software from Trimble, you can. Sketch-up is a program that gives the user the chance to build 3D models from the comfort of his or her computer desk. Getting started is easy and the software can be used to create anything from simple shapes to huge and complex buildings.
Why not try designing a home for a storybook character? Pupils could build a house that the wolf would never be able to blow down. Or children could recreate historical structures, such as WWII bomb shelters, or even the pyramids.’
