We value outdoor learning
As a school that highly values outdoor learning we were keen to develop and enrich our curriculum for the whole school: children, staff and the wider community.
After researching various programmes, we felt WILD Passport was the most suitable, as it would fit in with our current provision and the progression of skills and knowledge was very clear.
Great for forest school ‘bubbles’
Having purchased the programme, our intention was to start it in the next academic year. However, due to the pandemic, when our school opened to more pupils we felt it was an ideal opportunity to introduce the curriculum to our key worker and vulnerable children groups.
It links to our school values
Our forest school bubble was led by our assistant head and forest school leader. We felt that our school’s values of aspiration, independence and resilience would be further developed using this programme.
It enabled children to learn, regularly practise and revisit skills while making links with the wider curriculum.
It had an outstanding impact on pupils
The impact on pupils was outstanding. Their communication, co-operation and confidence was clearly evident and their awareness of safety grew. They developed a strong sense of empathy for each other and the environment.
Every single child developed a passion for outdoor learning. We are looking forward to rolling the curriculum out to all children this year.
