Suffrajitsu is an original play written by Ruthie Boycott-Garnett and tells the story of Annie, a young girl from Lancashire.
The story begins with Annie meeting Helen, a Suffragette, and learning that everyone should have the right to have a say in the decisions that affect their lives.
We travel with Annie as she follows Helen to London on the campaign to gain votes for women.
In the city, Annie learns that not everyone wants women to gain to the vote.
When events turn violent and lead to Helen’s arrest, Annie discovers that she needs to defend herself and her fellow Suffragettes.
After meeting the Suffrajitsus, learning jiu-jitsu and rescuing Helen from prison, Annie finds that she is stronger than she ever imagined, and that being small doesn’t mean you can’t change the world.
