Use an imaginary crime scene to teach children how to read, spell and use question words…
Thinking of exciting and fun ways to introduce and use tricky words is always a challenge. Add the extra element of introducing punctuation and grammar elements and you might be left thinking, ‘Argh!’
This lesson plan, based around the idea of a stolen laptop, incorporates a number of literacy skills including phonics, punctuation, speaking, listening, reading and writing.
It is based on teaching question word recognition and spellings and revolves around a pretend crime scene investigation that will grab students’ attention.
Setting up the scenario will take a little preparation, but will ensure the lesson sticks.
