15-page PDF featuring example words for each of the 42 letter sounds
KS1, KS2
Years 1-6
Compiled by Jolly Phonics co-author, Sue Lloyd, this 15-page Jolly Phonics word bank document contains a comprehensive collection of example words for each of the 42 letter sounds.
Use each entry for segmenting (blending and identifying sounds in words) practice with children. The words in this Jolly Phonics word bank appear in the Jolly Phonics letter sound order.
Underlined words indicate those that tend to give an inaccurate pronunciation. However, the pronunciations are so close that the children can ‘tweak’ them and read them, especially if the words are in their vocabulary.
Initially it is sensible to make sure the children know how to blend the non-underlined words before using the underlined ones.
