People Who Help Us is a very popular theme at KS1. It embraces many subject areas – such as PSHE, literacy, numeracy, geography (where in our community do helpers live or work) and even history (people who helped us in the past, eg Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole) – as well as forming a natural bridge with work at the Foundation Stage.
Singing, songwriting and music-making bring an extra dimension to this topic, supporting and enriching children’s experiences.
