Review – Quizlet

Imagine you are at high school and studying for a French exam. Learning the vocabulary isn’t easy, so you decide to build a simple website to help you get 100%. That’s precisely what Andrew Sutherland did – and he called it Quizlet.

After being shared with friends, Quizlet grew and grew, and it now helps over a whopping 30 million students each month practise and master content through fun and engaging games and activities. It is having a massive impact on education.

Quizlet is a website and an app which allows students and teachers to create and edit little quizzes, flashcards, matching, study sessions, spelling, writing, timed games and more. It’s a study tool in a league of its own – and a veritable model of efficiency.

Quizlet is different because it provides tools to help students actually study and learn effectively, making it an active process. Forget forgetting – once students have learned something on Quizlet, the app has a record of that and can re-show them the things that they are likely to forget.

As they get better, the questions get harder, to keep them progressing.

You can access Quizlet anywhere and it is extremely easy to make a free, online account. Both students and teachers can easily find content from other students and teachers, or they can get creative and make their own material.

You can unlock more features by subscribing to Quizlet Teacher and there is a premium option for students too, called Quizlet Plus. The free account takes you so far, but the extra features mean you can craft and create more engaging content, customise, and use ad-free, too.

Teachers can easily create their own study sets, create and study diagrams, record their own voice and share with students. With ‘Quizlet Live’ you can run a real-time game for high-octane learning that fizzes by creating teams, and play using diagrams with added audio.

There are also tools for tracking student progress so you can see who has done what for gap-checking.

It’s easy to see why Quizlet is considered the pioneer in education gamification and the benchmark in edutech space. Quizlet delivers immediate, out of the box value that can be used in moments – with video overviews and a help centre at hand should you need it.
