A 13-page booklet for parents and teachers to accompany Riverford Organic Farms’ ‘Big Worm Dig’ – a child-oriented earthworm survey that sees participants gather information about the presence of earthworms in their local area, while learning about different earthworm species, their behaviours and habitats in the process. The survey could also potentially be used within the minibeast curriculum.
The resulting data is then submitted to scientists at the University of Central Lancashire and used as part of their ongoing research into the role of earthworms in soil ecosystems, both within the UK and abroad.
