Canal & River Trust – Explorers: East London – Limehouse Basin

What will students see and do?

On a visit to Limehouse Basin in East London pupils will find out why it was built and what it looked like 150 years ago. Pupils will get the chance to compare the manmade canal to the River Thames and watch as the lock fills up. If you’re lucky you might even get to watch the road bridge open to let a big boat into the basin.

Classroom workshops and guided walks are available at this location, focusing on transport routes, the development of London and the variety of water birds who call this area home.
