Rocket boosters at the ready – the Ultimate STEM School experiences are ready to launch at Winchester Science Centre.

From inspirational, educational and fun school trips at the south’s leading science and discovery centre to immersive workshops and demo-filled assemblies right in your very own classroom, there’s something to suit every school plan and budget.

Ultimate STEM School Trip

The science centre will soon be filled with the sounds of excited school children once again as the Ultimate STEM School Trip returns after an 18-month break.

Students will blast off on an adventure around the science centre through interactive activities, spectacular live Planetarium shows and immersive exhibits.

Aimed at Key Stage 1 to 3 pupils, the hugely popular schools package has been designed by expert science communicators to spark curiosity and ignite passion and enthusiasm in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths).

Every school trip will include the chance to become immersed in one of six curriculum-linked activities in the inspirational Discover Workshops, including space, rockets, robots and sound.

Students will have the opportunity to be wowed by a magical live show in the UK’s largest standalone planetarium, where they will be taken on a journey through the stars in a unique and unforgettable experience.

There will also be time to bring science to life with exploration time amongst the interactive exhibits including the brand new sound, hearing and vibration exhibition and the out-of-this-world Explorer:Space.

Ultimate STEM School Takeout

Enthusiastic Inspirers are ready to bring science wow to your classroom with the Ultimate STEM School Takeout. The new all-you-can-eat buffet of at-school activities, aimed at primary-aged students, will bring to life the principles of the scientific method through inspiring activities and explosive demos.

Choose from three exciting topics all linked to the current curriculum – forces, sound and coding and material properties – and enjoy a 20-minute whole or partial school assembly filled with explosive demos and interactive experiments all aimed at exciting students, reinforcing the scientific method and leaving students talking about the show’s wow moments for hours afterwards.

Activities have been expertly designed to be fully rounded, with the option to complete pre-visit resources linked to the chosen topic, on-the-day workshops and a post-visit project.

Schools who complete the post-visit project, will also see three students and a teacher invited to the science centre for a free bespoke day involving immersive exhibits, a Planetarium show, live science demos and a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to work as a science communicator.

Mobile Planetarium

For a completely unique at-school experience, why not try out the mobile Planetarium. An experienced astronomy specialist will bring the immersive fun of the science centre’s 360⁰ Planetarium space experience into your school with a huge inflatable six-metre state-of-the-art digital mobile Planetarium.

Seating up to 40 children at a time, the presenter will run a live planetarium show on the 360⁰ screen and answer student questions. The mobile dome is perfect for Key Stage 1 to 3 pupils and wheelchairs can be easily accommodated.
