The ICC Cricket World Cup is on a mission to engage one million young people in the lead up to – and duration of – the tournament.
Part of this is the Cricket World Cup Schools programme, which is free to sign up to and has loads of teaching resources.
What is the ICC Cricket World Cup Schools Programme?
The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Schools Programme is made up of fun and engaging curriculum-linked resources that use the fantastic game of cricket, and the excitement of the 2019 Cricket World Cup, to enrich KS1 and KS2 pupils’ learning across a range of subjects.
Six flexible half-termly projects have been developed with teachers and include PowerPoints, videos and competitions and these can be tailored to suit your school’s requirements.
The programme has been developed by the International Cricket Council (ICC), England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), and in conjunction with leading sporting charity Chance to Shine.
Why is it worth engaging with the Schools Programme?
The programme captures the imagination of teachers, students and their parents across the country by bringing the excitement of the Cricket World Cup into the classroom and the playground.
The six half-term projects effectively show the power of combining sport and education by teaching important aspects of the school curriculum including English, maths, PSHE, art and geography, and provides teachers with lesson plans to implement effective classroom sessions.
