Sumdog Maths

What is it?

Sumdog Maths is an online practice and assessment tool that uses games-based learning to build mathematical fluency and accelerate progress. Sumdog employs a sophisticated learning engine to provide a personalised learning experience, with questions that adapt to a student’s individual needs.

Used by over 5,000 schools in the UK, Sumdog Maths covers all areas of the maths curriculum and is independently proven to double progress in fluency.

Sumdog uses adaptive learning games aligned to the National Curriculum, Welsh LNF and Northern Irish curriculum to engage pupils in maths and foster a lifelong love of the subject.

Supporting a maths mastery approach, Sumdog allows you to address the differentiated needs of your students while keeping the class together.

Students are given the incentive to earn coins and rewards – this helps to foster a growth mindset, by encouraging them to focus on their accuracy and practise their core maths skills, while also enabling them to feel pride in their progress and attainment.

Our diagnostic tool does all the work for you in identifying and addressing areas of common misconception, and highlighting where further teacher support might be required.

Students are then placed on a personalised learning journey with questions that adapt to their level, allowing them to play and learn alongside their classmates, while boosting their confidence and reducing anxiety around their maths ability.

We’re able to offer a library of ready-made assessments mapped to the Mathematics Programme of Study for the National Curriculum, for students to complete in the familiar Sumdog environment, which can take the stress out of assessment for pupils and teachers alike.

Our automated marking and reporting will meanwhile let you focus on identifying and addressing areas for potential intervention.

Pupils can complete their Sumdog challenges and assessments on computers or via our app for iOS and Android devices, in-class or at home.

“The range of curriculum-aligned unit assessments means that targeting next steps is simple, with detailed reports and analysis provided for teachers. A stress-free way to continuously assess”
