Walls have ears…?

Guitar enthusiasts might be familiar with the company Orange from their distinctive, tangerine-tinged amplification equipment. It’s perhaps less well-known for its activities in the education space, the latest example of which is the MUSICBOARD2 – an electronic whiteboard that seeks to transform the teaching of music theory.

The headline feature is that it is so far the only equipment of its kind that can actually play back notes written on it via a handheld wand, thus helping to better engage pupils in understanding notation, scales, chords and key signatures – an issue previously noted in a 2013 OFSTED report [DOC].

The wall- or stand-mounted MUSICBOARD2 can also transpose each of its three staves to the treble, alto, tenor or bass clef and includes a programmable metronome. Other features include a 61-note poloyphonic keyboard to demonstrate playing positions, a guitar input, MIDI support and audio streaming from external devices via Bluetooth.

The Orange MUSICBOARD2 is available now, priced at £1950. For more details, visit www.orangeamps.com/ome.
