Key Words with Peter and Jane has taught generations of children to read by introducing and repeating 300 high-frequency Key Words. Discover 36 stories designed for steady progression.

1. Tried and tested methodology

Founded on rigorous educational research, this tried and trusted method introduces 300 high-frequency words or Key Words, repeating and reinforcing them to practise reading the words ‘on sight’.

2. Steady progression

This easy-to-navigate series is designed for steady progression to support independent reading. It contains twelve levels, with three books in each level (a, b, c).

By working through the stories in order, 1a, 1b, 1c, 2a, 2b, 2c and so on, children will encounter, practise and consolidate reading 300 Key Words.

“Additional phonically levelled vocabulary is introduced alongside the Key Words to develop a complete range of reading skills.”

3. Phonics vocabulary

Around half the Key Words are phonically decodable. Additional phonically levelled vocabulary is introduced alongside the Key Words to develop a complete range of reading skills.

This blended approach equips children to understand new words and full sentences quickly and easily, developing their word-recognition and phonics skills.

4. Tips and comprehension questions

Tips for using these books with children are included in at the beginning of every book and there are comprehension questions and a key words summary at the end of each book.

5. Downloadable audio and activities
