Fundraise at your school for Children with Cancer UK and help fund life-saving research and provide support for children, like Sienna, going through cancer treatment...

Sienna’s story

Sienna was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in December 2022, one day after her seventh birthday. She began her treatment seven days later.

Her first bone marrow aspirate showed that 90% of her bone marrow was filled with leukaemia, and she had infection markers. Five weeks of isolation followed, along with several MRI and CT scans to identify her infection.

After spending six and a half weeks in her room, Sienna was allowed out onto the ward to walk around and strengthen her leg muscles.

Sienna finished her second round of chemotherapy earlier this year in February, but she still has a long journey ahead with two more rounds of chemotherapy to go. By the end of her treatment, Sienna will have spent six months in hospital.

Show your support

Stories like this are why we’re asking your school to take part in Children with Cancer UK’s Pyjamarama.

Many children, like Sienna, going through cancer treatment spend lots of time in hospital or resting in bed or on the sofa and their familiar pyjamas are a source of comfort.

We would love to see students across the country wearing their pyjamas this June in solidarity with children and young people going through cancer treatment.
