£150 of Cambridge University Press resources will be awarded to the nation’s neatest scribes

Entries are now open for 2016 National Schools’ Handwriting Competition. Organised once again by Cambridge University Press and SATIPS (The Society for support and training in Prep, Primary and Senior Schools), the competition will run until 11 March 2016.

This year’s contest sees four categories for children and one for staff. An overall winner will be selected in each category, with additional prizes awarded for the winning entry for each year group. All categories aside from the 11-13 age group will a given a different set poem to copy from a selection chosen by 2015’s winners, St Faith’s School, Cambridge.

The entries will be judged by noted calligrapher Patricia Lovett MBE and the winners announced during this year’s National Stationary Week, which runs from April 25th until 1st May.

The winners in each category will receive a stationery prize and a certificate, while the teachers from the winning schools will get to select their choice of Cambridge University Press education resources to the tune of £150.

According to Patricia Lovett MBE, “This competition is all about recognising the importance of handwriting, and it was wonderful to see so many schools taking part. We were thrilled with the standard of entries in last year’s competition and very much look forward to receiving the children’s entries this year.”
