Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Axcis are recruiting for a secondary teaching assistant to work in a mainstream school working closely with the SEND department starting in September 2021 in Barnstaple.

The role is supporting a nurture group of KS3 pupils boosting literacy and numeracy support. the pupils are working at upper KS2 level and your role will be to support the class teacher with intervention groups. All pupils all have an EHCP so some experience with SEND is essential. You would work closely with the SEND teacher who is based at the school working with small groups and 1:1 support both in the provision and in the main school.

The ideal candidate must have experience working with pupils in a school setting, ideally secondary level and working with SEND in some capacity previously.
