ActivPanel series developed with teacher feedback.

It would be hard to miss Promethean at Bett. ‘Large display’ would describe both the company’s presence at the event and some of the innovations on show.

The ActivPanel Elements interactive display series, for example, features prominently. It has been designed by teachers, for education, with an emphasis on ease of use. Its aim is “to make teaching and learning with technology even easier”.

On hand to demonstrate was deputy head Alison Lydon, pointing out features such as the teacher-friendly angled controlled, which gives users quick and easy access to the unified menu, volume controls, source selection and more. It might be a small point but, as Alison pointed out, “the small things matter to teachers”.

Promethean also says the user interface supports navigation by making commonly used tools accessible and mapping the interface to the teacher’s natural eyeline.

The ActivPanel can be used in collaboration with a range of classroom devices such as tablets and laptops, allowing screen mirroring and activities such as quizzes to encourage class participation.

The writing experience is powered by Vellum technology and other features include Instant Whiteboard, spinner, timer and annotation. Promethean says this this all supports “engaging lesson delivery” and encourages “learning in the moment”.
