Key Learning Outcomes

Join us for this inspiring and interactive session where we will investigate the core ideas children need to understand from EYFS to Year 2. You will be fully involved, focussing on both the teaching and learning of mathematics, the development of early mathematical thinking and the four rules. You will have plenty of opportunities to challenge your own thinking and enjoy exploring these areas in depth.

Agenda

  • To investigate how to develop firm foundations of key concepts in a spiral curriculum;
  • To gain an overview of when and how key concepts are introduced in Inspire Maths;
  • To explore the development of early mathematical thinking and deep conceptual understanding, including number sense, fluency, calculating and the use of mathematical language;
  • To consider how Inspire Maths supports children to move from the concrete to abstract understanding;
  • To understand the structures of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing and the Singapore approach to the teaching and learning of mathematics.
