Today is World Book Day. It’s a celebration of reading first and foremost, of course – but also a day that will see pupils up and down the land turning up to school dressed as their favourite literary characters.

We want to highlight some of today’s best-dressed participants, be they pupils or staff, in a Teachwire post tomorrow – so tweet your pictures of the most impressive, most comical (or possibly weirdest) costume worn at your school today to @teachwire, and who knows – you might make it into our World Book Day hall of fame.

To sweeten the deal, we’re giving away a pile of 20 KS1 and KS2 books to the school of that lucky tweeter who posts our favourite picture of the day. Entries close this evening at 11.59pm GMT (2nd March 2017), and the winner will be notified tomorrow.

The full list of titles is as follows:

The Jamie Drake Equation by Christopher Edge • It Wasn’t Me by Michael Bond • The Elephant Thief by Jane Kerr • My Gym Teacher is an Overlord by David Solomons • Attack of the Woolly Jumper by Mark Lowery • The Everything Machine by Ally Kennen • Jenks & O’Hare Funfair Repair by Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre • The Emergency Zoo by Miriam Halahmy • A Child of Books by Oliver Jeffers and Sam Winston • Samson the Mighty Flea by Angela McAllister and Nathan Reed • Lucinda Belinda Melinda McCool by Jeanne Willis • Dave’s Cave by Frann Preston-Gannon • Word of Mouse by James Patterson • The Secret Keepers by Trenton Lee Stewart • The Witch’s Vacuum Cleaner and Other Stories by Terry Pratchett • Jack Beechwhistle: Attack of the Giant Slugs by Kes Gray • Timmy Failure: The Book You’re Not Supposed to Have by Stephan Pastis • Frogkisser by Garth Nix • A Whisper of Horses by Zillah Bethell • See You in the Cosmos by Jack Cheng
